JUNIOR GIRLS
Section 1
The Valley finals will be on a rotating basis. If a zone does not have schools in Jr. Girls
soccer in a year, they are to host, the hosting shall go to the zone next in line.
ROTATION: North – 2008 & 2009 West – 2010 & 2011
Section 2
a) Playoff Format
The playoff shall consist of 6 teams. Each zone shall be guaranteed one berth. The number of teams registered and competing in each zone will determine the remaining berths.
b) Draw
The draw shall consist of two pools of three teams. The commissioner shall determine the
makeup of the draw in consultation with the commissioners from the zones.
FRIDAY - pool games are to be 35. If tied at end of regulation time, go immediately to a
shoot out which will ONLY be used to break a head to head tie at end of pool play.
Win = 3 points; Tie = 1 point

Section 3
a) Length of games is 35 minute halves for all games.
b) Substitutions are unlimited
c) Ties: a) Golden Goal rule applies to overtime: 2 x 10 minute halves if still tied
b) 5 penalty shots per team by 5 different players, and if still tied, then penalty
shots until a winner is determined
d) Discipline
Any player receiving two yellow cards is suspended for the balance of the game following the second yellow card and for the next game. Any player red carded is
automatically suspended for a one game minimum with the possibility of further
sanctions from the commissioner.

a) Cost of officials shall be shared equally by all participating teams
b) Host schools shall be responsible for the appointment of officials
SINGLE A BOYS & GIRLS
A) Eight team Tournament. Berths to be allocated as follows:
B) All zones containing at least one team wishing to compete in the Valley Championship will receive at least one Valley berth.
a) Zones with two teams will receive 1.5 guaranteed berths in the Valley Championship
b) Zones with three or more teams will receive 2 guaranteed berths in the Valley Championship
c) After all guaranteed berths have been allocated, any remaining berths will be allocated (as .5 berths) to the zone containing the greatest amount of teams registered with BCSS
d) Challenge matches (between teams having earned .5 berths) will take place at the school representing the zone with the higher finisher at the valley Championships the previous year
e) In the event that two or more challenges matches are necessary, the commissioner will ensure that one team from from the zone with e greatest number of teams participates in each necessary challenge match. If this becomes necessary, the higher ranking team from the zone containing the greatest number of teams would play the lowest ranking challenging team from a different zone(based on finish at the previous seasons results at Valley Championships)
C) The Valley Championship will be a 8-team tournament. rankings depend on zone play, tournaments, and results from previous year.
Round robin play:
Okanagan Play-offs have traditionally been two day events. The traditional dates are Friday and Saturday.

If two provincial berths, third place may challenge second place, unless they have already lost to second during the round robin. If there are three berths the third place team will automatically assume the last berth. if four berths, the top two from each pool will advance.
All teams that compete in zone league or zone play-offs and qualify for the Valley Championship must attend the championship or be subject to Valley sanctioning.

E) Valley Tournament Information for Hosts
a. Date to be played at least 10 days prior to provincial date.
b. Team rankings to be sent to participating teams at least 1 week in advance of Valleys.
c. BCSA certified Referees and linesmen to be supplied for all games, when possible.
c. Minimum entry fee to be $80.00 per team. (Officials only)
d. Procedures for determining winner of match:
i) in round robin play and in play-off matches to decide 5th/6th/7th/8th place, matches tied after full time will be decided by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark according to FIFA Laws of the game.
ii) in play-off matches to decide 1st/2nd/3rd/4th matches tied after full time will be decided by two halves of 10 minutes extra time(played in there entirely). If ,after extra time, the match remains tied , the winner will be decided by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark as per FIFA Laws of the Game. Challenge matches, if necessary, will determine a winner using the same process.
iii) All games will consist of two halves of 35 minute. (Including the final)
F) Discipline
a) Any player sent off in a match will be suspended from the remainder of that match and will automatically be suspended for a minimum of one additional match(with the possibility of further sanctions from the commissioner-depending on the severity)
b) Any player receiving a caution in two separate matches may finish the remainder of the match in which the second caution was issued(barring a second caution in that match). The player will, however, be suspended from his/her team’s next match.
AA BOYS
Section 1 - Playoff Format
A) Valley is divided into 2 zones: north and south. The exact dividing line is to be
determined by the Commissioner so as to try to balance the number of teams in each zone.
B) The number of teams participating in the Okanagan Valley Championship is
based on the number of teams in the zone. The zone with the higher number of
teams gets the larger number of representatives to the Valley playoffs.
C) Round robin consisting of either 6 or 8 teams which are seeded and divided into 2
interlocking pools. The winners of each pool play for first and second; the second
placed teams play for third and fourth. This is a must play game in case we get 3
berths to the Provincials.
D) The host for the Okanagan Valley Championships alternates between north and
south; the north in even years and the south in odd years.
Section 2 - Length of Game
Senior - 35 minute halves, 10 minute intermission except for the championship game which will be played in 45 minute halves.
Section 3 - Ties
a) 10 minutes of overtime each way, if still tied.
b) Second series of 10 minutes of overtime each way during final found of play only,
if still tied.
c) Five penalty shots per team by five different players, and if still tied, penalty shots
until a winner is determined.

AAA Boys
Section 1

Section 2
- teams seeded #1 and #2 will get a bye in the Quarter final round.
- the team that finished #1 and #2 in the League will host the Valley Semi-finals
- the highest winning seed of the Semi-finals will host the Valley Final.
Section 3
All teams are eligible for the Valley playoffs.

f) Discipline
Any player receiving 3 yellow cards is suspended for the rest of that game and the
next subsequent game. Any player ejected or Red Carded is automatically suspended
for a minimum of 1 game with the possibility of further sanctions from the
commissioner.
g) Officials (BCSA registered for the current year)
The host school shall be responsible for the appointment of officials. Assistant
referees must be present for all games
Fee schedule is $45.00/$22.50
Section 5
The cost of officials for the Valley Tournament to be split equally among the teams in the tournament.(officials only)A $45.00 cheque made out to the hosting school should be brought to the Valley Quarter, Semi Final and the Valley Final by the away teams.
Section 6
- Valley playoff dates will be set by the commissioner at the beginning of the season.
Section 7 - League Play
a) length of games: 45 minute halves; 15 minute half time
b) league will consist of 10 games between league participants. 3 home and 3 away games plus league tournament, consisting of 2 Saturday play days where each team will play 2 games.
c) league games will be played on Wednesdays during the week. Two Saturday league tournaments will also be played.(Each team plays two games)
d) games to start at 4:00 pm(except after time change)
e) 3 points for a win / 1 point for a tie / 0 points for a loss
f) league standings will be organized by the commissioner. Scores of games must be faxed
or emailed to the commissioner within 24 hours of the completion of the game outlining
the following:
i) teams that played
ii) score
iii) team rosters (must be faxed)
iv) any misconduct that occurred
g) in the event of a tie in league standings, Valley seeding will be determined thus:
i) the results between the two or more teams
ii) the team with the higher goal difference for, in games between the 2
teams
iii) if still tied, least goals against in the league
iv) if still tied, most goals for in the league
v) if still tied, overall goal difference
vi) if still tied, flip a coin
*** Second team listed is the HOME TEAM (lights) in each round and is
responsible for putting up nets for both goals and corner flags. 3 BCSA
registered officials for each game.
h) League Tournaments
i) Will consist of 2 Saturday play days where each team plays 2 games.
ii) Commissioners will organize and send out schedule.
Section 8
a) Schools must be registered with the Provincial Commission to be eligible for Valley
Championships which are used to decide the Provincial berth.
b) As per Provincial Soccer Constitution, teams can dress only 20 players per game.
AA GIRLS
Section 1
The Valley Finals will be on a rotating basis.

Section 2
A) Playoff Draw - 2 pools each consisting of 4 teams.
B) Each zone will be responsible for its own playoff format during league play.
Section 3 - Valley Finals
A) Length of games: 35 minutes for regular games; 45 minutes for championship &
consolation final.
B) Unlimited substitutions
C) Ties i) 10 minutes of overtime each way; if still tied
ii) That from the two 10 minute overtime periods in the playoff finals
the next step to decide a winner is to go to the penalty shot format.
iii) 5 penalty shots per team by 5 different players and if still tied then penalty shots until a winner is determined
D) Discipline
Any player receiving two yellow cards is suspended for the balance of the game
Following the second yellow card and for the next game. Any player “red carded”
is automatically suspended for a 1 game minimum with the possibility of further
sanctions from the commissioner.
E) Officials

Rules & Regulations: Soccer
Section 4
A) Berths to the Valleys shall be determined by proportional representation so that the zone with the largest representation gets more berths.
B) Playoff format: 2 games will be played on the first day beginning at 1:30pm and 2 games will be played on the second day. Each team will play 3 pool round robin games.After the round robin is finished , the teams that finished 1st in pool A will play the team that finishes 1st in pool B in the championship final for 1st and 2nd. The team that finishes 2nd in pool A will play the team that finishes 2nd in pool B in the consolation final for 3rd and 4th. The team that finishes 3rd in pool A will play the team that finishes 3rd in pool B for 5th and 6th. The team that finishes 4th in pool A will play the team that finishes 4th in pool B for 7th and 8th.
C) A tie in the Valley finals will follow FIFA regulations in overtime adopting the
Golden Goal sudden death overtime rule.
Section 5
A) No challenge matches. Pool Format. To be determined by zone commissioner.
B) Valley playoff dates will be Thursday & Friday two weeks prior to provincial
dates.

- The winner of the Valleys will represent the Okanagan in the Provincial Tournament as OK #1.
Section 7 - League Play
a) length of games: 40 minute halves; 15 minute half time
b) league will consist of home and away games between league participants
c) games will be played on Mondays and Wednesdays
d) games to start at 4:00 pm
e) 3 points for a win / 1 point for a tie / 0 points for a loss
f) league standings will be organized by the commissioner. Scores of games must be faxed
or emailed to the commissioner within 24 hours of the completion of the game outlining
the following:
i) teams that played
ii) winner
iii) team rosters (Must be faxed)
iv) any misconduct that occurred
