A CODE OF ETHICS FOR THE OKANAGAN VALLEY SCHOOLS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
- The game is a game for happiness.
- The rules of the game are to be regarded as mutual agreements. The spirit or letter of which no one should try to evade or break.
- Visiting team and spectators are the honoured guests.
- No advantages, except those of superior skill, are to be sought over others.
- Officials and opponents are to be regarded and treated as honest in intention.
- Decisions of officials, no matter how unfair they may see, are to be accepted without outward appearance of vexation.
- To win is always desirable, but to win at any cost defeats the purpose of the game.
- Losing can be a triumph when the best has been given.
- The greatest good to the greatest number is the ideal.
- The Golden Rule in sport is to treat other persons, as you yourself would like to be treated.
THE NAME
The name of this association shall be “The Okanagan Valley Schools Athletic Association” otherwise known as the OVSAA.
OBJECTIVES
Section 1
To foster and encourage athletics and sportsmanship among the schools within the confines of this organization.
Section 2
To protect and promote the mutual educational interests of its members.
Section 3
To provide, adopt and legislate uniform qualifications and conditions governing regulations, schedules, tournaments and other special events, and determine by rules and regulations the qualifications of all players, teams, and leagues that are members of the Association participating therein. To hold, conduct and manage annual playoffs as may be duly authorized and to sanction all such special events that conform to the rules and regulations of this Association.

That the Code of Conduct be distributed to Principals of member schools in early
September. The Principals of member schools be urged to discuss Code of
Conduct with all their coaches.
